Crispy Baked Apples

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 apples (variety of your choice)

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg (optional)

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional)

  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Preparing the Apples: Wash and dry the apples. Core and remove the seeds using an apple corer or a sharp knife, without piercing the bottom of the apple.

  3. Preparing the Filling: In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and rolled oats. Add the chopped nuts if you wish to add some crunch.

  4. Stuffing the Apples: Place the apples in a baking dish. Fill each apple with the sugar and spice mixture.

  5. Baking: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender but not too mushy.

  6. Serving: Remove the apples from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. You can enjoy them as they are or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an even more indulgent dessert.
